Direct Marketing Fundraisers Association Privacy Policy

This Web site is owned and operated by the Direct Marketing Fundraisers Association (DMFA), and we are committed to protecting your privacy. We will not sell, share, or rent your personally identifiable information to others in ways different from what is disclosed in this statement. Please read on for more details about our privacy policy.

What types of information do we gather, and how do we use it?

The DMFA gathers personally identifiable information (i.e. names, addresses, zip/postal codes, e-mail addresses, credit card information, etc...) that is voluntarily and knowingly submitted by a visitor. For example, personally identifiable information is collected in order to respond to a request by a visitor who wants to have their name added to our mailing list.

Will the DMFA share my personally identifiable information?

We will only share personally identifiable information with third parties when we are required to by law or for the reasons below:

  • Cookies: "Cookies" are small pieces of information that are stored on your computer hard drive so a site can recognize repeat visitors, facilitate the visitor's ongoing access to and use of the site, and allow a site to track usage behavior and compile aggregate data that will allow content improvements. When used, our cookies do not contain any personally identifying information. Most Web browsers automatically accept cookies, but if a visitor does not want information collected through the use of cookies, there is a simple procedure in most browsers that allows the visitor to deny or accept the cookie feature. Please see the help section in your browser for more information.

  • Your name and address: The DMFA will occasionally provide member names, postal addresses, and/or e-mail addresses to organizations that we think our members might be interested in; however, if you do not want us to share your name, please send an e-mail to info@dmfa.org and let us know that you would like your name kept off of these lists.

Links

This Web site contains links to other sites. Please be aware that the DMFA is not responsible for the privacy practices of such other sites. We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our site and to read the privacy statements of each and every Web site that collects personally identifiable information. This privacy statement applies solely to information collected by this Web site.

Updating personal information

If your personal information changes (such as your zip code or e-mail address), or if you would like to have your name removed from our mailing list (postal or e-mail) please send an e-mail to info@dmfa.org.

Notification of privacy policy changes

If we change our privacy policy, we will post those changes on our Web site so our users are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we disclose it. If at any point we decide to use personally identifiable information in a manner different from that stated at the time it was collected, we will notify users by e-mail. Users will have a choice as to whether or not we use their information in this different manner, otherwise, we will use information in accordance with the privacy policy under which the information was collected.

Log files

Like most standard Web site servers we use log files. This includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks to analyze trends, administer the site, track user’s movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses, etc. are not linked to personally identifiable information.
