Add a lift note to your year-end appeal
|

In light of the recent events of September 11th, thousands of non-relief effort fundraisers are losing out on their pledge fulfillments and level of gifts from current donors. Consider adding a lift note to your year-end programs that makes some mention, but not a direct inference, to these events. Instead remind your donors how important they are to your cause, our organization and to those that your organization helps. See sample copy concept below….
Dear Friend or Dear Donor or Dear Valued Donor,
As you know, [name of your organization] can fulfill its mission primarily because of the generous support we receive from donors like you.
Fundraising for worthy causes is always unpredictable. With each appeal, we hold our breath, hoping that enough money comes in so we can continue serving [list your audience or cause].
Now, the tragedy of September 11 has created an unprecedented demand for funds to aid victims\' families and the survivors – so much so that many charitable organizations are reporting a decline in contributions.
It's a blessing that so many Americans have been so generous in response to September 11. That's the right thing to do.
Please, however, include [name of your organization] in your year-end giving as well. If we fall short of our fund-raising goals, we will be forced to cut back or even eliminate valuable programs.
Thank you,
