Piggyback Your Test Package Onto A Larger Run of Someone Else's Roll Out

January, 2002
Your quantities are not sufficient to test an inline* package...yet you know that if you could test, you may have a much-needed new control. If you have an agency, they can take your control, adapt it to an inline format, and your test can run on top of a larger inline run of another client.

If you do your own direct mail, you can ask the inline vendor if they can run your test along with a rollout of another client who is using the same inline format. When your test wins, then you can roll out your new inline control and even piggy back further tests off of it. Anyone currently mailing a traditional type acquisition package (no. 10 envelope, letter, reply) owes it to themselves to at least test the same package in an inline format. In addition to being economical and effective and allowing a variety of personalization, the secure looking nature of an inline package may be especially attractive to donors post anthrax scare.

*An inline package is a one where you have to tear along a perforation to open.
